The ABCs of Booking a Research Instruction Session:
Anticipate, Book & Communicate

Concordia’s librarians are excited to work with you to create and deliver research skills presentations tailored to the needs of your class. Here’s what you can do to maximize the value of your session.

Step 1 – Anticipate your needs

  • What challenges do you anticipate your students encountering during their research?
  • What information resources are your students expected to use?

Less is more: focusing on a small number of objectives is optimal.

Step 2 – Book a session

Contact your liaison librarian at least two weeks ahead of the anticipated presentation date.  Please include the following information along with your booking request:

  • Desired date, time, and classroom
  • Number of students registered
  • A copy of the related assignment(s)
  • A copy of your course syllabus

Step 3 – Communicate with the librarian & with your students

Attend the session and participate actively to reinforce the importance of developing strong research skills.
