Loan Periods and Renewal Limits

Undergraduate Students:

  • Books,(including Curriculum books) – 6 weeks, 4 renewals; books can be recalled after 2 weeks.
  • Media (including Curriculum media) – 2 weeks, 4 renewals
  • Reference & Periodicals – in library use only

Faculty, Staff, Graduate Students:

  • Books – term loan, 4 renewals; books can be recalled after 2 weeks
  • Curriculum books – 6 weeks, 4 renewals
  • Media (including curriculum media) – 2 weeks, 4 renewals
  • Reference & Periodicals – in library use only

External (Concordia Alumni, LCC, TAL):

  • Books – 2 weeks, 2 renewals
  • Curriculum, Media, Reference & Periodicals- in library use only

NEOS cardholders:

  • Books and Media – 2 weeks, 2 renewals
  • Curriculum, Reference & Periodicals – in library use only

Renewing Items

Items can be renewed by logging into “My Account” selecting the items and clicking “Renew Selected Items.” If an item has been placed on hold by another person it cannot be renewed.

Returning Items

Items can be returned in the book return box just outside the library entrance or at the Circulation Desk book return during hours of operation. Materials borrowed from other NEOS libraries can be returned to the Concordia Library.

Email Notification

A valid email address is required for all patrons for email notification. These notices include holds available for pick up, due date reminder, over-dues, and fine notices associated with library materials. Notifications for Concordia students are sent to their Concordia email account.


  • $1 per day an item is overdue
  • $2 per day a recalled item is overdue
  • $31 maximum per item
  • Reserve items are:
    • $1 per hour for “library use only” items
    • $6 per day for an 1, 3, and 7 day items
  • Questions regarding fines for items from other NEOS librarins should be directed to the owning library.
  • Library fines over $50.00 restrict access to:
    • Online services including:
      • access to grades
      • transcripts
      • diplomas
      • timetables
      • registration in future courses
    • Borrowing privileges are suspended
  • Materials overdue for more than 31 days are considered lost and a system default fee for $150 is charged to the account
  • Library payments are non-refundable
  • Faculty will incur fines on library materials but the fine will be removed for Concordia items once they are returned. Faculty are responsible for any fines incurred on non-Concordia materials. Faculty will be responsible for the replacement cost for any lost library materials.

Fines can be paid online with a credit card through online services.

If you do not have a credit card, library fines can be made at Student Accounts with cash or debit card.  A fines/lost book slip payment form must be picked up from the library and presented to Student Accounts along with the payment.

Lost Library Cards

Patrons are responsible for all transactions on their borrower card. Report a lost ID card at the Circulation Desk as quickly as possible.


Concordia Alumni have access to the following:

  • Checking out materials from Concordia’s main collection;
  • in-library access to our electronic databases, Curriculum collection, AV collection, and Recreational Reading collection.
